How it works

Estimate gravel or sub-base volume from area, depth and bulk bag yield.

Estimating method: Volume = area × depth. Bags = ceil(volume ÷ bag yield).

Worked example

10 m² at 50 mm deep is 0.5 m³. If a bulk bag covers 0.6 m³, one bag is enough on paper.

Common mistakes
  • Entering depth in metres instead of millimetres.
  • Not allowing for compaction.
  • Ignoring uneven ground and edges.
