Pond Volume Calculator

Estimate pond volume from length, width and average depth.

Irregular ponds vary. Use average dimensions for a rough treatment or pump estimate.

Notes and next steps

How it works

Estimate pond water volume from length, width and average depth.

Estimating method: Volume = length × width × average depth. Litres = cubic metres × 1000.

Worked example

A 2 m × 1.2 m pond with 0.6 m average depth is 1.44 m³, or about 1440 litres.

Common mistakes
  • Using deepest depth instead of average depth.
  • Ignoring shelves, curves and irregular shapes.
  • Using a rough estimate for treatment without checking the product label.
