- Measure the lawn area first.
- For seed, multiply area by the seed rate in g/m².
- For turf, divide the waste-adjusted area by roll coverage and round up.
Worked example
40 m² at 35 g/m² with 10% allowance needs 1540 g, or about 1.54 kg.
Common mistakes
- Using a seed rate meant for overseeding on a new lawn.
- Not preparing the soil before sowing.
- Forgetting birds, patchy areas and follow-up overseeding.
