How it works
Estimate plasterboard sheet quantities from wall or ceiling area, board size and waste.
Estimating method: Adjusted area = area × (1 + waste percentage ÷ 100). Sheets = adjusted area ÷ board area, rounded up.
Worked example
24 m² with 10% waste is 26.4 m². Standard 1.2 m × 2.4 m boards cover 2.88 m², so buy 10 boards.
Common mistakes
- Not planning board orientation.
- Forgetting door/window openings or awkward cuts.
- Ignoring board type, thickness and fire/moisture requirements.
