Scale ingredient quantities from original servings to the number of servings you want.
Scale seasonings carefully and adjust to taste.
Notes and next steps
How it works
Scale a single ingredient or recipe quantity from one serving count to another.
Formula used: Scale factor = target servings ÷ original servings. Scaled quantity = original quantity × scale factor.
Worked example
If 250 g of flour serves 4 and you need 6 servings, the scale factor is 1.5, so use 375 g.
Common mistakes
- Scaling cooking time exactly the same as ingredient weight.
- Forgetting seasoning, raising agents and strong flavours may need checking by taste.
- Mixing grams, millilitres and item counts without noting the unit.
