Download Time Calculator

Estimate how long a file transfer may take from file size and connection speed.

Try an example:
Real transfer speeds vary with Wi‑Fi, server limits, routing, congestion and device performance.
How it works

Estimate download time from file size and connection speed.

Estimating method: Seconds = file size in gigabits ÷ Mbps.

Worked example

10 GB is about 80 gigabits. At 100 Mbps, it takes about 800 seconds, or 13 minutes 20 seconds.

Common mistakes
  • Mixing MB/s and Mbps.
  • Forgetting Wi-Fi and server limits.
  • Assuming advertised broadband speed is constant.
