How it works

Calculate an average where each value has a different weight.

Comparison method: Weighted average = sum(value × weight) ÷ sum(weights).

Worked example

70 weighted 40 and 90 weighted 60 gives a weighted average of 82.

Common mistakes
  • Using percentages that do not add up sensibly.
  • Averaging averages without weights.
  • Mixing weights and scores in the wrong columns.
